The Austrian company Kabel-X has landed in the US. It now targets MSO that wish to replace coax with fiber in FTTP deployments. Before, they targeted telcos with its proprietary technology: replacing the inside of conduits without digging.

I've discovered Kabel-X a few months ago. Their solution is quite interesting : pulling off the copper wires to replace it by blown fiber. The sexy stuff : the telco saves money on the fiber install by recycling the copper.
It's smart, it's unique, and it's green.
IMHO, the Kabel-X solution is to be combined with other "costs-saving" solutions in order to minimize investments as much as possible. For instance, you can't use the Kabel-X on long-haul : doesn't make sense financially-wise to pull off copper wires on say a 200-km link. It does perfectly fit with urban areas, where free ducts are a scarce resource.
FYI, Kabel-X is actively present in France too.
