Thomson Corp selling Thomson Learning seems to suggest Thomson is preparing a bid for Wolters Kluwer, if the latter's stock price is any indication. Wolters moved up by over 4% yesterday and closed up 2%, after the Thomson story leaked to the Wall Street Journal. Thomson wants to "take advantage of opportunities to accelerate the development of our core businesses and explore adjacent markets that are consistent with our strategy".
Also: Wolters put its own educational unit up for sale last month and Thomson reports Q3 results today. Riverdeep is rumoured to bid for Houghton Mifflin.
